About me

My name is Cherie and I live in Ilkley with my lovely husband and our 2 wonderful children.

After having our Children I made a life-changing decision to becoming a full-time mum and put my banking career on hold!

I began exploring a whole new creative side to myself that I never new I had! I guess that has something to do with been a mum and all those messy play activities like play dough and finger painting we encounter with our children.

It all started when I got asked by a friend to make her a cake for her daughter’s birthday and I was shocked and honoured at the same time that she’d asked me to do it, but more why she’d asked me to make her a cake… It could have been something to do with every time she came round to see us, the children and I always had our aprons on, our trusty wooden spoons out and always had something baking in the Aga!

After making her cake I not only surprised her and her party guests but I surprised myself at how much I enjoyed making the cake!!

So, it led on from there really, another friend asked me and then another and so on. I then took it upon myself to take some evening classes at a local college to learn more on Cake Decoration. There I learned how to make edible flowers and you can see some of my flowers in my gallery, I learned how to make chocolate plastique and make things from these like flowers and butterflies. Come to think of it I learned quite a lot and gained an NCFE in Cake Decoration too. But to be honest no two cakes are the same and I am learning new techniques all the time and loving it!
